Medical practice of ‘Der Bergdoktor’

Since 2007, the Hinterschnabel farmhouse has served as the fictional medical practice of ‘Der Bergdoktor’ (German-Austrian medical TV drama series). The residential wing of this farmhouse stood empty for many years, but then it was remodelled. The farm, by the way, dates back to the 17th century. These days, fans of ‘Der Bergdoktor’ are thrilled when they get to see the actual workplace of the popular fictional character Martin Gruber.

At around 1,200 metres above sea level lies the Köpfing farm, which serves as the Gruber farm in the Bergdoktor series. According to the script, the Gruber family lives there: ‘Der Bergdoktor’, his mother in large parts and also his brother Hans together with his daughter Lilli. In the episodes, the farmhouse and its panoramic breakfast terrace, with views of the entire Kaiser Mountains and towards the Hohe Salve mountain, can be admired and is therefore a popular pilgrimage destination for loyal fans.

If it is not a filming day at the ‘Bergdoktor’ residence, then the farm is operated by the Mayr family.
